Job summary

Dedham Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Middle School Physical Education and Health Substitute Teacher to deliver engaging instruction that promotes physical fitness, athletic skills, teamwork, and lifelong wellness.

Position is open immediately through at least December 2026, pending the return of the current employee, with duties including planning lessons, monitoring progress, and collaborating with staff to support student success.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts educator licensure in Physical Education and/or Health/Family and Consumer Sciences preferred; MA teaching license in any subject encouraged.
• Knowledge of CHPE health standards.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement lessons aligned with Massachusetts physical education standards.
• Lead activities that promote fitness, skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Adapt instruction to meet students’ varying abilities and needs.
• Monitor student participation and progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate student records and manage student behavior.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and other school personnel.
