Job summary

Decatur Public Schools District #61 seeks a certificated elementary teacher to deliver instruction aligned with state standards for grades K–5. The teacher will develop foundational skills, monitor student progress, and engage families in supporting learning outcomes.

The role requires ongoing collaboration with the school Principal and teaching team, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to curriculum development to keep programs current and effective.

Qualifications

• Illinois State certificate in the teaching field qualifying the teacher to teach at the elementary level.
• Bachelor's Degree.

Responsibilities

• Teaching in compliance with curricular requirements of the State and of the Board of Education of District 61.
• Remain current on education research and developments, especially elementary education.
• Comply with Board Policies and Administrative Regulations at the school level.
• Participate in curriculum development at building and district levels as required.
• Participate in development of District Policies and Administrative Regulations as needed.
• Deliver instruction using effective learning principles and varied instructional strategies.
• Stimulate and engage students, showing care for each learner.
• Plan goals and objectives based on student needs and learning styles.
• Evaluate students and programs using appropriate assessments and records.
• Maintain classroom management to foster self-discipline and a positive learning environment.
