Job summary

Diocese of Harrisburg seeks a Middle School Math and Religion Teacher for Our Lady of the Angels School in Columbia, PA. This full-time role splits time between math and religion instruction for middle school students.

Reports to the Principal and requires implementing curriculum guidelines within the diocese. The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree, preferably with teaching certification, and demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a related field.
• Active teaching certification preferred; otherwise willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Create an effective learning environment with displays and activity centers.
• Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, and health.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet varying needs and interests.
• Plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction with demonstrations and work time.
• Instruct students individually and in groups using diverse teaching methods.
• Set clear objectives and communicate them to students.
• Assign and grade class work and homework.
• Maintain standards of student behavior for an orderly classroom.
• Prepare and grade tests and assignments to evaluate progress.
• Communicate with parents and counselors on student progress.
• Maintain accurate student records as required by policies and regulations.
• Consult with other staff to address student learning and health needs.
• Utilize technology to supplement presentations.
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators on program development.
