Job summary

Denton Independent School District is seeking a Band Director for a middle school in the 2026-27 school year. The role directs the instrumental band program, ensuring compliance with UIL rules and district policies while guiding student ensembles at various performance levels.

The successful candidate will have a strong music education background, TEA/UIL policy knowledge, and experience in budgeting and staff supervision.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree required
• Music Degree (Instrumental/Band Emphasis); Music Teacher Certification
• EC-12 (Instrumental/Band Emphasis) required

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages the instrumental band program district-wide.
• Maintain budgets, inventories, and equipment for the band program.
• Develop instructional plans aligned with TEA/UIL policies and district regulations.
• Plan and supervise student performances and UIL activities.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and administration; support recruitment and supervision of assistant directors.
• Supervise and evaluate band staff; manage program staff duties and schedules.
