Job summary

Sonoran Science Academy-Tucson is seeking a Middle and High School History (Social Studies) teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in Tucson, AZ. The school is a public charter serving grades K–12 with a STEM-focused, college-preparatory curriculum.

The role requires planning standards-aligned lessons using Arizona Academic Standards, differentiating instruction, maintaining records, collaborating with colleagues, and supporting students’ social-emotional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required or preferred.
• Arizona Department of Education Certification (preferred) or eligible to obtain.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach History (Social Studies) to middle and high school students.
• Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction using Arizona Academic Standards.
• Develop and implement daily engaging, rigorous lesson plans.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
• Maintain attendance, grades, and student performance in required systems.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners’ needs.
• Maintain a structured, respectful, well-managed classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues across grade levels and content areas.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff.
• Participate in team meetings, PD, and curriculum planning.
• Implement school policies and support student social-emotional development.
• Participate in school events and duties as assigned.
