Job summary

Benjamin Middle School is seeking a dedicated Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher to cover the period from January 4, 2027 through February 25, 2027. This role supports the PE program and fosters a positive, engaging learning environment for students.

The candidate will plan lessons aligned with state standards, assess progress, manage classroom behavior, and collaborate with staff. A valid IL PEL license and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois teaching license (PEL) required.
• Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports, and fitness activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement age-appropriate physical education lessons that align with the school's curriculum and state standards.
• Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation
• Assess student progress
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students.
• Collaborate with other educators and staff
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding student performance and any concerns.
• Supervise students during physical education classes and other related activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
• Maintain equipment and facilities used for physical education classes.
