Job summary

Ann Arbor Public Schools is seeking a High School Counselor for Pioneer High School (grades 9-12) to provide comprehensive guidance and counseling services under the AAEA Salary Schedule. The role reports to the Building Principal and supports transitional pathways from middle to high school.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling, a valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with counseling endorsement (NT) or SCL, and has prior high school counseling experience.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with endorsement in counseling (NT) or Michigan School Counselor License (SCL).
• Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC) eligibility desired.
• Three years satisfactory counseling and/or teaching experience at the secondary level.
• Five years of successful counseling experience at the high school level with involvement in group guidance activities desired.
• Advanced study in Guidance and Counseling with emphasis on group guidance and adolescent development.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and counseling services to assigned 9-12th grade students.
• Help staff meet the needs of students through classroom involvement or joint teacher-counselor sessions.
• Oversee EDP pathway transition between middle and high school.
• Make referrals to Achievement Team (AT).
• Attend Achievement Team meetings.
• Address social-emotional and substance abuse issues and coordinate with community resources.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Oversee peer mediation and Restorative Practice programming.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
