Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor to build positive relationships with members, deliver safe and effective classes, and support health and wellness goals. Classes run at the Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA with morning to early evening slots, requiring energy to lead and motivate participants of all levels.

The role emphasizes greeting participants, demonstrating proper form, and maintaining a safe, clean workout environment while adhering to YMCA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Certification or degree as specified in the qualifications.
• 1+ year of experience leading Group Exercise classes.
• All trainings completed within 90 days from date of hire.
• Strong communication across members of all fitness levels and abilities.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from the listed organizations.

Responsibilities

• Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and actively engaging them during workouts.
• Demonstrate proper form, modifications, and cueing to ensure safe workouts.
• Maintain a clean, safe workout environment and manage class setup/teardown within scheduled times.
• Build community by learning members' names and helping them reach Health & Wellness goals.
• Adhere to YMCA Group Exercise guidelines and communicate effectively with large and small groups.
• Respond to emergencies swiftly with appropriate safety measures.
