Job summary

WJCL-TV in Savannah, GA seeks a Local News Reporter who creates story ideas, conducts informed interviews, and builds live shots. You hit the ground running daily with enterprise reporting and field presence, developing sources and breaking big stories with credibility and poise.

You will work varied shifts including overnights and weekends, with equal emphasis on accuracy, speed and integrity in a fast-paced news environment.

Qualifications

Professional or college reporting experience.
Experience with enterprise reporting and ability to uncover details.
Your demo reel demonstrates everyday work.
Write clear, correct, compelling copy that supports visuals.
Operate mobile transmission devices and use current tech.
Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.
In-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities

Plan, gather and assemble stories on day-of news or special projects.
Gather and edit compelling video and captivating sound with/without a photographer.
Develop stories with unique enterprise angles and exclusive content.
Build a network of sources for tips and early access to information.
Contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
Meet deadlines under extraordinary pressure while maintaining integrity.
