Job summary

Hearst's KSBW 8 (NBC)/Central Coast ABC is seeking a Reporter who can generate story ideas, write to video, and deliver compelling live shots. The role demands enterprise reporting, credibility, and the energy to head out into the field.

You will operate under tight deadlines and report to the Managing Editor. The candidate should have 2–5 years of reporting experience, strong writing, and the ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of past reporting experience.
• Strong writing and storytelling required.
• Ability to operate mobile transmission devices and use latest technology.
• Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Works with reporters and producers in newscast production.
• Plans and gathers stories on day-of news or projects.
• Gathers and edits compelling video and sound with or without a photographer.
• Develops exclusive content and enterprise angles for stories.
• Builds a network of sources and breaks significant stories.
• Contributes visuals and updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
• Handles multiple stories with tight deadlines and maintains journalistic integrity.
• In-person attendance is required.
