DREAM in New York City seeks an ELL Teacher to design and lead English language instruction and partner with school staff to support students in need.

The ideal candidate has experience with ELL instruction, collaboration with teachers, and knowledge of second language pedagogy. Flexible in assignment and committed to whole-child education within a growing, collaborative school community.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
• Special Education and/or ESOL certification, preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• At least two years of teaching experience with record of improving student achievement, preferred.
• Desire and ability to receive and implement feedback.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences (including colleagues, students, families).
• A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students.
• A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

Responsabilidades

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate ELL standards into daily curriculum.
• Employ a variety of ELL instructional techniques to meet different aptitudes and interests.
• Implement a Common Core-aligned ELL curriculum based on language levels.
• Participate in meetings, planning, and professional development.
• Track and monitor academic progress using ELL data.
• Develop language acquisition plans for all ELL students and implement them.
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction.
• Administer language proficiency and achievement tests as needed.
• Communicate with parents and involve families in learning.
• Engage families as ambassadors for the school in the community.
• Set high expectations and build a warm inclusive classroom.
• Work with grade teams to analyze data and discuss progress.
• Maintain relationships and communicate student progress with families.
• Attend IEP/504/related meetings as needed for student assessment.
• Be flexible in teaching assignment within the school setting.
• Contribute to the school as a whole.
• Other duties as assigned.
