Job summary

Emerson Hospital is seeking an ED Technician to provide BLS care to ED patients in collaboration with Registered Nurses and Physicians. You will assist with orthopedic splinting and casting, phlebotomy, wound dressings, and catheter insertion, and support preparedness for mass casualty events.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma (preferred), 1 year EMS experience (preferred), and BLS. EMT certification is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1 year pre-hospital EMS experience preferred.
  • BLS healthcare provider required.
  • EMT Certification preferred.
  • Ability to take vitals.
  • Communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must read/write/communicate in English.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide BLS care to ED patients in collaboration with ED RN and physicians.
  • Assist physicians with orthopedic casting and custom splinting.
  • Perform phlebotomy, wound dressings, suturing prep, and urinary catheter insertion.
  • Support bioterrorism & disaster preparedness including mass casualty response.
  • Work under supervision of the ED RN or Emergency Physician; report to the Director of Emergency Services.
