Job description

GSF Media is a full-service creative marketing agency founded in 1997 and based in Lebanon, Tennessee. Our team includes strategists, designers, videographers, photographers, editors, media buyers and client leaders. Together, we help brands solve real problems through strong ideas and excellent execution across social media, paid advertising, websites, video, photography and design.

GSF covers 100% of healthcare, dental and vision for you and your family after your first 90 days. Not 50%, and not employee-only. Full coverage for your family. Agencies our size rarely do that. We do it because we want good people to build a life outside the lines...not just do a job here.

Our work is guided by three core values: Genuine Relationships, Creative Problem Solving and Inspiring Confidence. Those are not decorative words for a wall. They shape how we treat clients and coworkers, how we respond when the answer is not obvious, and the standard we expect ourselves to bring to the work.

The Job, in Plain Terms

We are looking for a designer with a strong creative eye who genuinely loves social media and the pace of making content for it. You understand typography, visual hierarchy, composition and color, but you also genuinely enjoy scrolling Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to see what is working in the algorithm right now. You bring those trends into your clients' content before anyone asks you to.

You also know the difference between being current and chasing every trend. The goal is not to make every client sound or look the same. You learn the ethos of the brand, understand its audience and choose the formats, ideas and visual approaches that actually fit.

The center of this role is hands‑on digital design and production. You will create original static and motion social content, concept, shoot and edit short‑form video, and design campaign creative for paid media, website promotions, display ads and occasional print.

You should be able to start with a blank canvas, make sound decisions about typography, hierarchy, composition, color and imagery, and explain why those decisions work.

About 70% of your week will be spent designing and producing. The other 30% will be spent as Client Lead for a focused book of one to three accounts. You will know those clients, run the relationship, shape their content calendars, lead approvals and make sure the work supports an actual marketing goal.

You are the brain and the creativity behind your clients' content. You set the visual direction, decide which trends are worth using, brief contractors clearly and protect consistency across every piece.

The range is part of what makes the job fun. You might spend a morning refining typography, graphic treatments and ad campaign layouts, then spend the afternoon at a dealership, event, shoot or client location capturing timely social content with a phone or camera. You should feel at home doing both.

This role is built for someone self‑sufficient. You do not need to be told what to do every day. You see what is due, what trends are worth chasing and what your clients need, and you get after it. You watch your clients' backs, notice gaps before they become problems and bring ideas forward without sacrificing the brand's voice or identity. Speed and capacity matter, but so does taste. You should be able to carry a real agency workload, switch between clients, take direct feedback and move quickly without letting the work become generic.

What You'll Own
Design + Content Production | Approximately 70%
  • Create original, scroll‑stopping design. Design static posts, carousels, motion graphics and other social creative from the ground up.
  • Create reels that feel native to the platform. Develop the hook and concept, capture footage, direct the people on camera, and edit short‑form vertical video in CapCut, Premiere Pro or a comparable tool.
  • Design digital campaigns across channels. Build cohesive creative for paid social, display advertising, website promotions, landing‑page graphics and related campaign placements. Support occasional print and other Creative team needs when required.
  • Help define each client's visual system. Partner with the Design & Development Lead to establish type, color, image treatment, templates, motion style and tone, then apply that system consistently without making every post look the same.
  • Stay immersed in what is working. Keep up with platform trends across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and proactively bring fresh formats and ideas into client calendars rather than waiting for them to be assigned. Know which trends fit the brand, audience and goal and which ones do not.
  • Write on‑brand captions and copy. Create hooks, captions, on‑screen copy and calls to action that sound like the client and serve the idea.
  • Direct contractor designers and manage delivery. Brief your vision clearly enough that someone else can execute it, review the work, protect quality, and manage your own tasks and deadlines in Asana.
Client Lead | Approximately 30%
  • Own one to three client relationships. Understand the client's business, audience, brand voice, goals and priorities, then own the relationship and content work from planning through delivery.
  • Lead the conversation. Run brainstorms, monthly updates and approval conversations with confidence. Bring recommendations, explain the reasoning behind the creative and handle direct or difficult feedback without going quiet.
  • Turn goals into a working calendar. Choose the right topics, formats, promotions and creative angles, then make sure every approved deliverable is assigned, tracked and completed.
  • Publish and promote. Schedule approved content across Meta, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn and coordinate paid promotion within approved budgets and with support from the Ads team.
  • Plan shoots with Video and Photography. Prepare shot lists, brainstorm concepts and make sure the team captures what your client's content calendar and campaigns actually need.
  • Understand and communicate performance. Track the KPIs and performance signals the client cares about and speak to them confidently with support from the Ads team.

GSF is an AI-forward agency that is on the cutting edge of its power and use. We expect you to use tools such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Higgsfield and Adobe's AI features to research, pressure‑test ideas, explore visual directions, improve scripts, create useful variations and remove repetitive work.

AI should multiply your thinking and craft, not replace them. Generic captions, obvious AI‑slop visuals, invented strategy and unmodified outputs from AI are not acceptable. You remain responsible for the idea, the taste, the facts and the final output.

During the hiring process, expect to explain how you use AI, where you do not use it, and how you keep the final work human, accurate and specific.

What You'll Need
  • A portfolio that proves original design ability. It must include static digital or social design and short‑form video or reels. Campaign, web, display, print or brand‑system work will strengthen your case.
  • Real command of the tools. Advanced working proficiency in Photoshop / fluency in Canva are required. Object Selection, masks, Levels or Curves, Gradient Maps, Generative Expand, non‑destructive editing and building from a blank canvas should not require training.
  • Design fundamentals. You understand typography, visual hierarchy, composition, color, image treatment and consistency well enough to apply them across different formats, not just talk about them.
  • Short‑form video experience. You have concepted, filmed and edited mobile‑first vertical video for TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts and understand hooks, pacing, sound, captions and platform culture.
  • Critical and verbal thinking. You can critique a design, identify what is working and what is not, defend your own decisions without becoming precious about them, and put a visual idea into words for a client or contractor.
  • Client ownership. You are a confident, organized communicator who can lead meetings, collect approvals, hold boundaries and maintain a strong relationship.
  • High capacity and self‑direction. You can prioritize your own workload, move quickly, follow through and remain useful without daily check‑ins.
  • Relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience is expected.
  • Comfortable in the Mac ecosystem. You are willing to work inside Asana and learn it quickly if it is new to you.
  • Available to work with the team in person. You live in Middle Tennessee or are prepared to relocate and can work from our Lebanon office at least three days per week.
Bonus If You
  • Have working knowledge of Illustrator for vector assets and production needs.
  • Have worked in a marketing agency and already understand the pace, feedback cycles and need to move between clients.
Benefits + Compensation
  • Work arrangement: Full‑time, hybrid, with at least three days per week in our Lebanon, TN office
  • Paid time off: Two weeks of paid vacation and 12 paid holidays annually, including an extended Christmas break
  • Monthly stipends: $50 cell phone stipend and $35 home office stipend
  • Travel: Mileage reimbursement for assigned client meetings and production
  • Health coverage: 100% company‑paid healthcare, dental and vision coverage for you and your family after the first 90 days, subject to plan terms
  • Retirement: 401(k) with up to a 4% company match after the first 90 days, subject to plan terms
