Qualifications

• Requires valid South Carolina teaching certificate or eligibility.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
• Ability to plan and present developmentally appropriate lessons.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students.
• May teach multiple disciplines as assigned.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Plans and prepares lesson plans and related activities for individual students or assigned classes.
• Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; communicates objectives to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media aligned to student needs.
• Grants grades and maintains accurate records of test scores/grades.
• Assesses student progress and provides progress reports as required.
• Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records as required by law and policy.
• Assists administration in implementing policies and maintaining order in the classroom.
• Maintains positive relationships with parents; conducts conferences and home visits as necessary.
• Coordinates and participates in special programs and activities as required.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in staff development.
