Chess Wizards, Inc. on Mercer Island, WA, is seeking enthusiastic instructors for after-school chess classes with elementary students. You will lead engaging sessions, follow a structured curriculum, and travel to multiple school sites in the area.

The role requires a love for chess, classroom energy, reliability, and the ability to manage a group of 10–15 children while promoting sportsmanship. Flexible hours and full training are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, engaging sessions.
• Professional, positive demeanor and kid-friendly attitude.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves and tactics to kids.
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Available on weekday afternoons, 2:00 PM–5:00 PM, to teach 1–5 classes per week.
• Strong punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 students.
• Follow the structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Adhere to school safety protocols during arrivals, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive prepared and ready to engage students.
