Job summary

Merrill Gardens at West Chester is seeking an experienced Senior Living Active Living Program Director to develop and lead a diversified calendar of activities for residents, enriching cultural, spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual needs. You will supervise staff, coordinate with families and external partners, and ensure engaging programs that help residents live their best lives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Three years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of social activity leadership preferred.
• Senior living experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop Activities: plans, coordinates, and participates in a variety of social events/outings to provide a vibrant and active community life to residents.
• Determines resident programming preferences, talents, and needs through orientation and ongoing dialogue.
• Engages residents, families, and the external community in activities and volunteer opportunities.
• Aligns with external organizations and educational institutions to establish partnerships for quality programs.
• Tracks resident activity participation and adjusts calendar events accordingly.
• Stays abreast of active aging trends and shares best practices.
• Develops community communications such as activities calendars for residents and families.
• Transports residents to activities and appointments.
• Sets up and cleans up after activities.
• Acknowledges residents’ special days and coordinates celebrations.
• Selects and manages outside vendors (entertainers, caterers, etc.).
• Marketing: conducts tours and plans events to engage prospective residents.
• Liaises between senior centers, churches, and the community.
• Supervises Active Living Assistant and/or volunteers.
• Manages monthly budget for activity supplies and staffing.
• Works with other department heads on orientation and in-service training.

Education
