Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Columbus, OH seeks a Shop Assembly role to assemble a variety of components using manual and automated equipment.

You will follow standardized work, document processes and contribute to safety, quality, cost and delivery goals. You will work in a team-oriented environment, maintain a clean workspace, participate in training and improvement projects, and apply manufacturing knowledge to continuous improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Must pass related testing.
  • Orientation on Aug. 6th; PIV license required; ability to work 7 days a week.
  • Blockline experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates manual and automated equipment to assemble product.
  • Follows standardized work and processes documentation.
  • Works as a team member to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery goals.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area; performs routine maintenance tasks.
  • Performs rework and handles nonconforming materials.
  • Collects and analyzes operating data; uses problem-solving techniques.
  • Uses hoists and forklifts to move parts and skids.
  • Adheres to PPE and site policies; participates in training.
  • Participates in improvement projects and team initiatives.
  • Communicates effectively with team and support teams.
  • Maintains safety and housekeeping in work areas.
  • Remains flexible; performs other duties as needed.
  • Completes work with minimal supervision.

Job Summary

Assembles variety of components in order to create an end product.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways


  • Operates manual and automated equipment to assemble product in order to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.

  • Follows standardized work and processes documentation.

  • Participates as team members to operate and manage assembly to meet the safety, quality, cost and delivery goals and acts as an active member of the team and takes on team representative role responsibilities.

  • Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks that are defined as part of the production work.

  • Performs rework, scrap transactions, external rework transactions, identifies and controls materials that are nonconforming.

  • Collects, analyzes and displays operating data; engages in formal use of common problem-solving technique when issues arise.

  • Uses material handling equipment including hoists, hoist inspections, and forklifts to move parts and skids.

  • Knows and complies with departmental, site, and company policies and procedures including the proper wear and use of required personal protective equipment.

  • Participates in training and personal development; assists in training department personnel.

  • Participates in improvement projects; uses common problem solving techniques while working alone or in teams.

  • Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all the support teams.

  • Maintains housekeeping and safety in work areas.

  • Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.

  • Completes work with minimal supervision.

  • Operates within team-based work system and rotates job routine as needed.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Must pass all related testing.


Experience

Minimal relevant experience required. Six months work experience preferred.


Orientation required.


Orientation on August 6th at 6:30am and 10:30pm in Blockline Conference Room

PIV license required


Must be able to work 7 days a week


Blockline experience preferred


Selection will be based on a resume and interview process to determine the successful bidders based off qualifications AND it is mandatory that all potential candidates/bidders attend an on‑shift orientation to learn more information regarding the position and have the opportunity to ask questions about the role.


Successful applicants will move on the 3rd Monday after selections are posted.


Successful candidates must remain in the position for a minimum of 18 months before regaining bid rights. At the end of the 18 months, the employee may be made permanent without reposting the position.


Must pass all related testing, if applicable.
