Job summary

Western Veterinary Partners offers veterinary externships across its practices in the United States. Students in any year can apply to gain real-world experience by integrating classroom learning into the clinic, with hands-on duties, case discussions, and opportunities to observe or assist in procedures.

Externs receive a $1,000 stipend and can expand their veterinary network while exploring different practice environments, including small/large animal, dental, and exotics.

Qualifications

• Veterinary students in any year can apply for an externship.

Responsibilities

• Work with supervising veterinarian to gain experience in client communication, case histories, physical exams, treatment planning, and in-house labs.
• Observe or assist surgical procedures and develop clinical skills in a real-world practice setting.
• Develop communication, time management, and record-keeping skills while building professional relationships within the medical team.
