Animal Medical Services is the largest provider of both large and small animal care in Surry County, Stokes County, Carroll County, and Patrick County. The clinic offers the convenience of meeting all animal health needs in one location—no need to contact multiple clinics. From lap dogs to beef cattle to a new rabbit, a single phone call provides the information and medical care you need.

Position Purpose

Come extern with us! Heartland Veterinary Partners’ Externship Program provides 1st‑4th year veterinary students with hands‑on experience and mentorship to help them become practice‑ready by their first day in practice. Externships are typically two weeks long, and Heartland will cover lodging costs if needed. The length of the externship is flexible, and we can support your preceptorship documentation.

Requirements/Qualifications

Eligibility:

• Currently enrolled in an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school.
• Must be able to provide student PLIT.
