Job summary

West Hempstead Animal Hospital is offering a veterinary student externship in Hempstead, NY. DVM students from AVMA-accredited programs will receive hands-on training in our full-service hospital, including vaccinations, diagnostics and surgery support.

The externship provides flexible scheduling, paid hours at $15 per hour, and potential future employment opportunities. You will be mentored by our licensed veterinarians while gaining real-world experience in a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• Must be a DVM veterinary student from an AVMA-accredited institution.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Externship pays $15.00 per hour and offers mentorship.

Responsibilities

Job description

At West Hempstead Animal Hospital, we provide a wide range of services from Vaccinations, Health Certificates and Disease prevention to Orthopedics and Cardiology. We offer complete dental care, weight management consultations, soft tissue surgery, as well as diagnosis and treatment of internal medicine cases.Our patients include dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, and other pocket pets.

Our staff is made up of friendly, caring, well trained professionals. Our receptionists greet clients personally and pleasantly, and our licensed veterinary technicians are able and willing to support our doctors to provide top quality care to our patients. The highly trained doctors at West Hempstead are dedicated to providing the best and latest medical care and surgical care in our state-of-the-art hospital. Many of our staff members have been working with us for years. Our facility has State of the Art medical equipment enabling us to provide in house laboratory diagnostics and digital radiology for top quality diagnostics. We were even recently named 2021 Best Veterinarian of Nassau County!

DVM students will be paid $15.00 / hour during their Externship.
