Job summary

Sawmill Animal Hospital and its sister clinic, North Jones Animal Hospital, in Laurel, Mississippi, invite veterinary students to join a well-established, multi-doctor externship program.

This paid externship offers 1:1 mentorship, flexible scheduling, and potential opportunities through our Partner Track Program, with exposure to canine and feline care.

Qualifications

• Must be an Active Veterinary Student from an AVMA Accredited Institution.
• Looking to enhance education through real-world externship experience.
• Eligible for paid externship with mentorship and future opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in paid externship hours with 1:1 mentorship.
• Gain experience across canine and feline patient care.

Sawmill Animal Hospital is the oldest veterinary hospital in Jones County, Mississippi, while its sister facility, North Jones Animal Hospital, is located just four miles down the road. Both locations are open to clients Monday through Friday. Many staff members have been with the practices for several years. Both facilities treat canine and feline patients and offer exceptional services, including boarding, dental care, digital radiology, grooming, in-clinic diagnostic testing, hospitalization/intensive care, microchipping, nutritional counseling, pain management, pharmacy services, preventative care, surgery, therapeutic laser treatments, ultrasound, vaccinations, and more.

If you are looking for a small-town atmosphere, Laurel, Mississippi, is the perfect place for you! It’s conveniently located a short drive from Montgomery, Biloxi, and the Gulfport & Biloxi beaches. Laurel has gained popularity recently, thanks in part to HGTV’s "Home Town," which showcases Erin and Ben Napier renovating old homes in their hometown. Laurel’s Main Street features a variety of shops, bakeries, restaurants, and local events. For art enthusiasts, the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art is a must-visit.
