Job summary

Regional School Unit 40 is seeking a part-time Duty Aide to help supervise students during lunch and recess. You will support safety, encourage positive behavior, and assist with minor conflicts under school rules.

The role involves guiding students to and from dining and play areas, helping younger children with lunch items, and promoting a respectful learning environment. Good communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guide groups of students to and from the cafeteria and playground.
• Assist younger children with lunch trays, milk and condiments.
• Monitor student behavior and apply discipline per school rules.
• Assist students in cleaning up after themselves.
• Monitor students for safety and appropriate behavior on the playground.
• Support staff during lunch periods and other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

The Duty aid will help will help supervise students in the cafeteria and playground during the lunch/recess periods. The main duties will include ensuring student safety, promoting positive behavior, and assisting with minor conflicts or issues that arise.

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is requried

Experience: Previous experience working with children is preferred.

Skills:

• Ability to relate to children in a positive but firm manner.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children.

Other:

• Punctual
• CHRC approval (Criminal history record check)

Examples of Duties:

• Guiding groups of students to/from cafeteria and/or playground.
