Job summary

Technical Professionals Group (TPG) seeks a professional Test Driver in Fairbanks, AK to perform designed test routes on public roads, observe vehicle performance and component failures, and record data in logs. The role reports to the Project Manager/Account Manager where applicable.

The ideal candidate has a valid US driver’s license, a clean driving record, and comfort with computers while following procedures for pre-drive checks and test cycles. Safety‑sensitive work is involved.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• A clean motor vehicle driving record is necessary.
• Experience with MS Office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/Internet Explorer) and Adobe products.

Responsibilities

• Track specific vehicle maneuvers identified by the Vehicle Test Engineering team while capturing test data.
• Verify the maneuvers were conducted properly, ensure data accuracy, and compare system performance against requirements.
• Follow instructions per predetermined routes and document test event information during vehicle testing.
• Evaluate vehicle performance & quality while performing test cycles and communicate observations to test technicians and engineers.
• Support the Vehicle Test Technician team with troubleshooting data logging, maneuver, and testing issues.
• Perform basic pre-drive vehicle safety check (fluids, tire pressure, tire tread condition).

Additionally, will make observations of vehicle performance, ride, quality, and component failures. Records observations in logs or electronic data systems as requested. Works under the general direction of the Project Manager and/or receive direction from the TPG Account Manager (where applicable).

Ideal Candidate

• Must have valid driver's license for the United States and clean driving record.
• Feels comfortable performing durability and vehicle performance test cycles in accordance with customer's test procedures. Durability test cycles include performing drive cycles on public roads, refueling/charging the vehicle, and cycling vehicle parts (doors, windows, steering, seats, switches, etc.).
• Must be technologically inclined and feel comfortable working with computers
• Requires mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time in conditions that will include temperature extremes and potentially wet conditions.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both oral and written communications.
• Must demonstrate good team skills, and the ability to work with and learn from others.

Education, Certifications And Qualifications

Important Considerations

• Safety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free and successfully pass drug screening prior to employment.
• Prolonged routine sitting for 5 or more hours with the requirement to lift at least 25 lbs.
