Operates a dump truck to transport and deliver materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, and/or other construction materials to and from specified destinations. Ensures safe and efficient transportation while adhering to traffic laws and company regulations.

Operates a dump truck to transport and deliver materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, and/or other construction materials to and from specified destinations. Ensures safe and efficient transportation while adhering to traffic laws and company regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Operate dump trucks safely and efficiently, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Load and unload materials at designated sites, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure loads.
  • Transport materials to construction sites, landfills, or other specified locations.
  • Follow delivery schedules and routes provided by the dispatcher.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries and any incidents.
  • Communicate with dispatchers, construction crews, and other personnel via radio or phone.
  • Perform basic maintenance on the vehicle, such as checking fluid levels and tire pressure.
  • Report any mechanical issues or accidents promptly to the supervisor and/or manager.
  • Keep the truck clean and in good working condition.

Responsibilities
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • Previous experience operating dump trucks or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must have and maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
  • Clean driving record.

Other Requirements
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Vulcan and DOT standards.
  • Complete daily mobile equipment reports and other relevant documentation with accuracy.
  • Must be able to perform and understand the Department of Transportation regulations, keeping all documentation up to date.
  • Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others at all times in accordance with Vulcan standards while operating equipment in and out of the plant.
  • Monitor your surroundings when operating equipment in and out of the plant and report any necessary maintenance or adjustments that may be required to ensure safety to your supervisor or manager.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
