Job summary

Palmetto Corp is seeking a Dump Truck Driver who will transport and dump loose materials across South Carolina, reporting to the Fleet Manager/Central Dispatch.

The role requires a valid CDL (Class A or B), ability to drive a manual transmission, DOT compliance, and the capability to lift 20 lbs. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL for at least 1 year.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Meet all DOT CDL driver requirements, including DOT Physical.
• Climb in/out of truck with three points of contact.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily DOT Pre/Post Trip inspections.
• Maintain detailed logs on hauled materials and weights.
• Handle all paperwork throughout the day.
• Follow instructions from Central Dispatch.
• Secure loads with chains or binders on the trailer.
• Load/unload the truck as needed.
• Operate the vehicle safely in traffic and follow company policies.
• Must be able to lift 20 lbs or more.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work overtime, nights and/or weekends as needed.

Position Description: Palmetto Corp is seeking a Dump Truck Driver who will transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, and paving materials. This candidate will be responsible for the following while having a strong focus on safety.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform daily DOT Pre/Post Trip Inspections.
• Maintain detailed logs on the substance(s) being hauled and their weight.
• Must handle all paperwork handed to them throughout the day.
• Follow detailed instructions given by Central Dispatch.
• Fasten chains or binders to secure load on trailer during transit.
• Load, unload or assist in loading and unloading of truck.
• Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow policies and procedures of Palmetto Corp.
• Must be able to lift 20lbs or more
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work overtime, nights and/or weekends (if needed).

Position Requirements

Requirements:

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License for at minimum 1 year
• Must be able to drive a manual transmission.
• Must meet all DOT requirements for CDL Drivers, including DOT Physical.
• Must be able to climb in and out of body of truck using 3 points of contact at all times.
• Must be able to clean inside of truck body, including getting in the back of the truck with a shovel to clean entire area so other loads won’t be contaminated.
• Understand and abide by the SC short haul regulations for Hours of Service of drivers within the 100 air mile radius ( 12 hours per day, no more than 70 hours per 7 days, or 80 hours in 8 days. Must have minimum of 8 hours off between shifts. Drivers are allowed a one-time exception each week of up to 16 hours in one day. That day must be logged by a paper log book.)
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must provide a 10 year MVR
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
