Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for the Evening shift at 75 Francis Street, Boston. The role supports licensed staff by assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, and basic patient care tasks in an onsite setting.

The position offers a $750 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires. Certifications such as CNA, PCT, MA, or EMT are required or you must have commensurate experience; nursing students in BSN or direct-entry programs are preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified nursing assistant, patient care tech, medical assistant or EMT required or equivalent experience.
• Nursing students with clinical background encouraged; BSN/direct-entry programs preferred.
• Bi-lingual abilities encouraged to support diverse patients.
• Prior clinical setting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• May not hold a current nursing license.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, weights/heights, intake/output with accuracy.
• Complete documentation in the medical record.
• Interact with patients and families effectively.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Help patients turn, reposition, and transfer as needed; assist with mobility.
• Report patient health concerns to nurses promptly.

Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential Functions-Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.-Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.-Interacts with patients and their families effectively.-Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.-Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.-Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions.QualificationsCertification as a CNA, PCT, MA, EMT or commensurate experience required. If the state of MA is not offering CNA exams at the time of hire, documentation of successful completion of full CNA course work will suffice.Nursing student who has completed her/his fundamentals of nursing with a clinical component (clinical rotation or simulation lab).
