Job summary

CTS International seeks a Senior DSP Systems Engineer to join the Space and Launch Engineering team in El Segundo, CA. You will design RF and digital satellite communication systems for civil, commercial, and national security programs, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and program teams.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to obtain US Security Clearance; US Citizenship required and final Secret Clearance post-start.
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, physics, math, data science or computer science.
• 6+ years in signal or image processing.
• 10+ years in electronic systems engineering.
• Master’s degree or PhD in related field preferred; experience with hardware algorithms is a plus.
• Simulink experience; Python or C++ or similar languages acceptable.
• VHDL/Verilog and ASIC/FPGA experience highly valued.
• Non-US equivalents acceptable with demonstrated qualifications.

Responsibilities

Company is seeking Senior DSP Systems Engineers to join the Space and Launch Engineering team in El Segundo, California, to design and develop state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems for commercial, civil, and national security programs. You will be part of a highly-motivated team that works with domestic and international customers on the latest satellite systems. Project assignments typically span the unit life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite unit development and test. You will belong to a systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists.

Position Responsibilities

• Design and develop next generation RF, and digital satellite communication systems.
• Develop and verify multi-rate, fixed-point digital signal processing architectures.
• Allocate, define, and verify requirements and interfaces in the development of communication digital payloads.
• Develop performance and link budgets.
• Conduct performance analysis of signal processing models.
• Execute payload subsystem trade studies to improve performance cost and/or schedule.
• Develop prototype demonstrations on communication subsystem testbeds.
• Plan unit-level integration and performance simulations.
• Support ASIC and FPGA level system design and verification.
• Support hardware procurement, design reviews, and unit sell-offs.

6+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.

Requirements

What you'll need

Required Skills:

• This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• 6+ years of experience with signal processing or image processing.
• 10+ years of experience with electronic systems engineering.

Preferred Skills:

• Master’s degree in or similar degree in signal processing or algorithm development focus
• Development of algorithms for hardware implementation on ASICs or FPGAs
• Digital Signal Processing based classes, projects or work experience
• Simulink experience in work or school. Python, C++, or other languages acceptable
• Substantive involvement and/or leadership in group-oriented project work
• Verification planning and principles, while applying their theoretical knowledge in resolving real world problems
• Typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 14 or more years' experience, Master's degreee with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
