Job summary

Hope House Foundation in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Part-Time Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, hands-on personal care and support for individuals with disabilities. The role focuses on promoting independence and safety in daily activities.

Experience as a CNA, PCA, HHA or DSP is a plus, with CPR/First Aid and Mandt certifications through paid training. Weekend availability is preferred to cover varied shifts and maximize impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in hands-on personal care and transfers is preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification or training is required/preferred as part of paid training.
• CPR/First Aid, Mandt and related certifications may be required during orientation.

If you’re experienced with hands‑on personal care, transfers, mobility assistance, or supporting people with medical needs, consider bringing those skills to a Direct Support Professional role.

We’re looking for caring, dependable people who are comfortable providing personal care and hands‑on physical support while helping people with disabilities live as independently as possible.

Experience as a CNA, PCA, HHA, caregiver, or DSP is a plus.

What you may help with

• Bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Mobility assistance and transfers
• Wheelchair and adaptive equipment support
• Medication and health‑related support
• Recognizing and communicating changes in health or support needs
• Daily activities at home and in the community

Starting pay: $17.36/hour with up to $23.36 on the weekends plus our career pathways program.

CNA experience is valued, but an active CNA license isn’t required.

• Ability to assist individuals with completing activities of daily living.
• Experience through education or work history that demonstrates reliability/dependability.
• Skill to complete satisfactorily: Medication Certification, Medicaid Waiver Certification, First Aid/CPR, Mandt, and other requirements associated with orientation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
• Skill in locating and accessing community resources.
