Job summary

Family First Developmental Disability Solutions is seeking caring professionals in Lewiston, ME to implement detailed support plans that are tailored to each client’s needs and preferences. You will provide essential daily living assistance, supporting medical appointments, transportation, and housing management with a focus on client dignity.

The role requires compassion, reliability, and a willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid training, plus a DSP certificate.

Qualifications

• Must have DSP-related qualifications or experience in health and human services.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a criminal, drug, and background check.
• Three references are required.

Responsibilities

• Follow a detailed support plan with goals tailored to each client’s needs, respecting preferences.
• Provide domestic support skills including cooking, cleaning, medication assistance, scheduling medical appointments, shopping, transportation, and housing management.
• Assist clients in accessing social activities and community resources; participate in community events and advocate for clients, including transporting them when needed.
• Ensure health and safety of clients at all times.
• Collaborate with others in the best interest of the individuals supported.
• Maintain proper documentation per Maine State guidelines using ClearCare/Well Sky app.

Responsibilities:

• Follow a detailed support plan with goals specific to each client’s needs and be respectful of each client’s wishes and personal preferences.
• Domestic support skills such as: cooking, cleaning, medication assistance, scheduling and attending medical appointments, shopping, transportation, and housing management.
• Working on an array of goals to support clients in accessing social activities and utilizing community resources. Community inclusion support will likely include: attending social and volunteering events with clients, encouraging client involvement in community, advocating for clients, and providing transportation
• Ensuring client’s health and safety.
• Working with others in the interest of the individuals we support.
• Proper documentation compliance in accordance with State of ME regulatory guidelines and practices using the ClearCare/Well Sky phone app.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• One year of Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience. Alternatively, experience in the health and human services field, including roles as an educational technician, is also preferred.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. as well as proof of completion.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a criminal, drug, and background check.
• Three references.
• Own a smartphone.
• Able to keep online records and communicate via email.
• Have a valid Driver’s License
• Reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
• DSP Certificate required
• Have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and other training as required per state of Maine or clients’ Individualized Service Plans (ISPs)
• Have or be willing to obtain up-to-date, CDC-recommended immunizations for healthcare workers including: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B and Seasonal Influenza.
