Kahak Health Care Services is seeking a dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide 1:1 in-home supports for an adult in Hurt/Pittsylvania County, VA. This full-time role requires a 55-hour workweek and a schedule including multiple weekdays and Sundays.
The DSP will assist with daily living activities, routines, and community participation while ensuring safety and calm, patient support. A minimum of one year in a medical field and 18+ years of age are required.

The DSP will help the individual become more independent at home and safely participate in the community. Support may include:
The individual is primarily nonverbal but understands directions well. He follows routines and learns best through repetition, modeling, and simple step-by-step instructions.

The individual is very sensitive to loud sounds. The DSP should be calm and patient, give him enough time to process instructions, and make sure his headphones are available when needed.
The DSP must be comfortable providing close supervision. Important areas include:
The best DSP for this case will be patient, dependable, calm, observant, and comfortable providing 1:1 support.
The DSP should be willing to teach and encourage the individual to do things for himself instead of doing everything for him. Consistency and following his established routine will be important for success with this case.
A minimum of one year experience in the medical or a related field (social work, psychology, nursing assistance, etc.) and a high school diploma or equivalency. Must be 18 years of age. Additionally, the following are required:
