Skill Creations, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide one-to-one and group care in home and community settings for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role includes personal care, behavior support, medication assistance, and life-skills coaching.

Full- and part-time positions available, with starting pay between $16.00 and $20.00 per hour, depending on services provided. Benefits include health, dental and life insurance, for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited school.
• Prompt and regular attendance for assigned work schedule.
• Valid Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record.
• Criminal Record Check.
• Successful completion of CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
• Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, online training, and data recording.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand most of the time.

About the Organization

Our company was incorporated in 1984 within the State of North Carolina, and opened its doors for business in August of 1985. The company has continually grew to a point where we currently serve more than 600 individuals, and employ more than 1000 people across the state. Skill Creations is a human services agency that operates three service divisions. The ICF Division provides specialized long-term residential care to 191 individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in 15 different towns in North Carolina. The Community Operations Division provides residential and non-residential services to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in their home community. The Child Development Division, with two locations in Goldsboro, provides high quality child care and preschool for children ages birth - 5 years. One center also offers after school care through age 12.

Direct Support Professional - Community Based.

Starting Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour-$20.00 per hour depending on service provided ($16.00 per hour for Backup/PRN positions)

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the provision of overall support and care for individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. Those that Skill Creations Inc. Serves in this capacity are individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the individual’s home and/or in a community setting, providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan(s) of care. The Direct Support Professional may assist with personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance and/or independent living skills. The Direct Support Professional also provides educational opportunities in the areas of communication and recreation/leisure. Starting pay is $16.00-$20.00 per hour for Full and Part time DSP positions depending on serviceprovided ($16.00 per hour for all back up/PRN positions).

Requirements

• Successful completion of course work will be required in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
• Basic computer skills are needed for e-mail, electronic training modules and recording data.
• Persons must have the ability to lift 50 pounds and the work occasionally requires balancing, bending, stooping and kneeling. The position requires the employee to be on his or her feet most of the time.
