Hoffman Specialty Contracting is seeking an experienced Drywall Taper to prepare interior panels for painting, taping and finishing joints, and applying compound. The role emphasizes attention to uniform results and adherence to safety policies.

The candidate may supervise small crews and work in varying indoor/outdoor environments. The position requires familiarity with drywall finishing levels and tools, plus reliability and the ability to follow directions and collaborate with a foreman.

Qualifications

• Must belong to local union.
• Experience conforming to local building codes.
• Know and understand drywall finishing levels and methods (5 levels).
• Must be reliable: show up on time and ready to work on scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

• Prepare unfinished interior drywall panels for painting by taping and finishing joints and imperfections.
• Apply drywall compound and address surface indentations.
• Remove excess compound after coverage.
• Embed tape with sealing compound to seal joints.
• Spread compound to cover holes, cracks, and screw heads with tools.
• Seal joints to prepare walls for painting or papering.
• Sand or patch nicks or cracks in plasterboard.
• Use mechanical applicators to spread compounds and embed tape.
• Apply additional coats to achieve smooth surfaces.
• Install metal molding at wall corners.
• May supervise small crews.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
