Summary

The Drywall Hanger Lead is responsible for leading the drywall hanging process while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are consistently met. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with daily leadership and coordination of the drywall hanging team.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Quality

• Measure, mark, and lay out materials according to blueprints, drawings, and supervisor instructions.
• Cut and shape drywall board to plan to ensure proper coverage and clean lines.
• Secure drywall to framing using hand and power tools and the appropriate nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
• Inspect completed walls and ceilings using levels, lasers, framing squares, and straight edges, including bead alignment; correct deficiencies as needed.
• Patch and repair drywall to achieve a like‑new appearance.
• Skim surfaces with a final layer of plaster in preparation for finishing work.
• Create textured surfaces when requested.

Safety & Team Leadership

• Assign daily tasks based on production needs and employee skill levels.
• Monitor team performance to ensure productivity, quality, and safety expectations are met.
• Communicate progress, issues, or concerns to supervision in a timely manner.
• Safely erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Maintain and manage required tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure all equipment and materials are used safely and effectively.
• Promote a safe, organized, and respectful work environment.

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and directions.
• Thorough understanding of drywall installation principles and methods.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and quality.

Preferred

• Previous experience leading or managing a team.
• Basic understanding of modular manufacturing processes.
• Strong communication, organization, and planning skills.
• Ability to perform in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
