Job summary

KLN Family Brands is hiring a Night Shift Dry Packaging Machine Operator to operate and maintain the packaging line, ensuring quality, sanitation and safety. Reports to night shift supervisor and assistant supervisor in Perham, MN.

Responsibilities include starting equipment, controlling packaging materials, and communicating with supervisors. Opportunity to participate in maintenance, line upgrades, and training of staff, with comprehensive benefits and performance-based incentives.

Qualifications

• General mathematical ability and basic computer skills.
• Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English.
• Willing and able to climb heights and meet physical requirements.
• Ability to work varying shifts per supervisor’s direction.

• Operate and maintain the dry packaging line on the night shift.
• Complete daily production reports and maintain line efficiency.
• Coordinate packaging materials, code dates, and product specs.
• Assist maintenance and troubleshoot equipment when issues arise.
• Support other lines as needed and train line workers.

Dry Packaging Machine Operator – Tuffy’s Pet Foods

Hours: 2pm - 10pm M-F

Compensation:

• All in hourly compensation: $23.44/hr
  • Base Pay: $20.96/hr
  • 6% Shift Differential for Mid Shift: $1.26/hr
  • Sign on Bonus: $1.22/hr worked

The Opportunity

We’re now hiring a Night Shift Dry Packaging Machine Operator to operate and maintain the general operation of a line, to ensure continuous quality, efficiency, sanitation, and safety of that line. This position will report to the night shift supervisor and night shift assistant supervisor.

• General knowledge of daily extrusion and production reports
• Communicate with Supervisor/Foreman on all production concerns
• Communicate with Extruder Operators on product times and bin space
• Starting and setting up all required equipment for production
• Controlling packaging materials, code dates, expiration dates, stickers and any items unique to product specs
• Controls product quality, packaging quality, contamination, weight controls and line efficiency
• Will do general maintenance and repairs on equipment and assist maintenance personnel
• Will perform all equipment adjustments and change overs and troubleshoot equipment when problems occur
• Complete all daily reports in legible manner, special projects as assigned
• Assist in controlling packaging from warehouse, assist in supervising all line workers required on line
• Operator will assist other lines when needed, perform all other duties assigned, assist training of all line worker
• Complete knowledge of bin, product distribution, product delivery and blending systems
• Coordinate all record keeping and charting to include cleaning schedule, packaging yields and efficienc
• Assist Supervisor and Foreman as needed to control packaging area

Qualifications

• General mathematical ability and basic computer skills
• Must not be afraid of heights, ability to climb 150 feet
• Be able to meet physical requirements necessary for this position
• Be willing to work hours and shifts as required by the supervisor
• Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English
• Working in loud and at times dusty and hot environment
• Willing and able to get along with others. Be willing to fill in on other shifts as required by supervisor.
• Ability to handle weights of up to 65lbs on a routine basis
