Responsibilities
  • Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards.
  • Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the Drug/GM department; support the day-to-day functions of Drug/GM operations.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Maintain alignment with the company core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
  • Create and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results; monitor and control expenses; stay aware of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Assist store management in preparing store/department budgeting, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on financial reports.
  • Coordinate scheduling to manage customer volume during hours of operation and develop associates on performance, participating in performance appraisals and setting department goals.
  • Understand the store layout, locate products, execute sales promotions, and communicate promotions to department associates.
  • Inform and educate department associates about current and upcoming in-store promotions, especially those affecting Drug/GM.
  • Implement promotional plans for the department and stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions, making product suggestions.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items and inform customers of Drug/GM specials.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Schedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  • Train department associates on inventory/stocking procedures and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO); plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs as needed.
  • Report safety risks or issues and any incidents to store management; notify management of customer or employee accidents and any illegal activity.
  • Perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
