The Drop Installation Technician I performs general labor associated with the installation of fiber optic drop facilities, in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.

Due to in-field support and on-call requirements, the individual selected for this position must reside within a 60-minute drive of the Delavan, Wisconsin warehouse located at: 120 S Wright St., Delavan, WI 53593.

This position is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus, paid in two installments: 50% after 3 months and 50% after 6 months.

This role can be hired at Technician I or Technician II level, depending on skills and qualifications. Please review each related job posting and apply for each level if interested and qualified.

Responsibilities

1. Perform general construction labor, including:

• Transport construction equipment.
• Place new drop facilities.
• Install enclosures (buried and aerial), vaults, pedestals, and handholes.
• Label fiber optic and copper facilities.
• Assist with fiber splicing and repairs.
• Perform landscape restoration and equipment maintenance.

Complete all related paperwork.

Assist field service technicians as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Adhere to TDS attendance policies.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility for DOT requirements.

Other

• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL; current CDL preferred but training provided.
• Physical ability to climb poles, ladders, and perform manual tasks.
• Pass safety and customer-specific background checks.
• Basic knowledge of telecommunication products.
• Organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime/shifts as needed.
• Operate vehicles with manual transmissions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Requires sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. May work outdoors in various weather conditions and near heavy equipment.
