Job description

XCaliber Technologies is a defense technology company building the next generation of autonomous air defense. We develop integrated Counter UAS systems combining autonomy, sensing, command and control, and purpose built aircraft to detect, track, and defeat evolving aerial threats.

We are a small, fast moving team where your work directly shapes the aircraft we build and the capabilities we deliver to protect people and strengthen national security.

The Role

We are looking for a hands on Drone Assembler / UAV Production Technician to assemble, wire, inspect, test, and repair our unmanned aerial vehicles.

You will work closely with our engineering team to turn components and designs into complete, reliable aircraft. Your work will span prototype builds, production assembly, troubleshooting, and aircraft preparation for field testing.

This role is suited to someone who enjoys working with hardware, takes pride in clean workmanship, and can follow a build process while identifying ways to improve it.

What You Will Do
  • Assemble aircraft and subsystems, including airframes, motors, propulsion components, electronics, sensors, and associated hardware.
  • Build and install wiring harnesses, solder connections, crimp terminals, and route and secure cables cleanly and consistently.
  • Follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly instructions, flagging unclear steps or component fit issues.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical inspections, basic measurements, and functional checks using established procedures.
  • Load approved firmware and configurations and support bench testing under engineering guidance.
  • Troubleshoot assembly and connection problems, replace components, and complete repairs and rework in coordination with engineers.
  • Prepare aircraft for ground and flight testing and support inspections, servicing, and repairs in the field.
  • Maintain build records, component traceability, and test results, and help improve assembly instructions and production consistency.
  • Keep tools, components, batteries, and work areas organized, following appropriate handling and workshop procedures.
What We Are Looking For
  • Practical experience assembling or repairing drones, robotics, electronics, or other mechanical and electrical hardware.
  • Confidence with soldering, crimping, wiring, small components, and precision assembly.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, read basic drawings and wiring diagrams, and use hand tools and electrical measurement equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, consistent workmanship, and the discipline to inspect and document your work.
  • A practical approach to troubleshooting, with the judgment to identify problems and involve engineers when needed.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt as designs evolve, and support workshop and field testing activities.

Relevant experience may come from employment, technical training, military service, or substantial

personal projects. A university degree is not required.

Nice to Have
  • Experience building and flying drones or radio controlled aircraft.
  • Familiarity with flight controllers, electric propulsion, and lithium battery handling.
  • Experience with electronics rework, 3D printing, composite assembly, or light fabrication.
  • Experience with production assembly, quality inspections, component inventory, or manufacturing documentation.

Direct defense experience is valuable but not required.

Show Us What You Have Built
  • Photos, videos, build logs, or examples of aircraft and hardware you have assembled or repaired are welcome. We value careful workmanship, practical problem solving, and pride in building hardware that works reliably.
