Job summary

Coastline Academy is seeking driving instructors to educate and advise students while teaching the fundamentals of operating a car behind the wheel, using a Coastline car with a dashboard camera for safety.

You will be guided through a paid training program to obtain your state license, and deliver in‑car lessons. Most lessons occur in the afternoons and weekends to fit student schedules.

Responsibilities

About This Role

• In a company-provided vehicle, you will educate and advise students while teaching them the fundamentals of operating a car behind the wheel.
• We’ll assist you in obtaining the state-required driving instructor certification through our paid training program. Our training team will guide you through the requirements and provide the coursework to obtain your state license.
• All of our lessons are taught in a Coastline car and recorded with a dashboard camera for the safety of you and your student.
• The majority of the demand for driving lessons is in the afternoons and weekends as most of our students are on a school schedule. A typical day could consist of three two‑hour lessons.

What does training entail?

• Training will consist of 48 hours of learning.
• In‑person behind‑the‑wheel training in a Coastline car in your local area.
• Shadowing an entire classroom session for a round of students.

Responsibilities

• Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving.
• Providing instruction on the rules of the road.
• Helping students develop confidence in their driving skills.
• Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations.
• Documenting and reporting on students’ progress.
• Maintaining timely communication with your supervisor and support team.
• Maintaining professionalism with students and fellow team members.
• Attending team meetings for updates and ongoing development.

Requirements

• A genuine passion for helping people learn.
• Ability to remain calm in a learning environment.
• A valid State Driver’s License in the state you wish to work in.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and reference check.
• Must have 10 years of legal driving experience.
• A strong safety mindset and strong reasoning ability.
• Ability to give clear instruction, coach, and communicate effectively to others.
• Ability to focus for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle.
• Must be able to see and hear during all weather conditions.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, touch, and feel.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
