Job summary

Serrato Corporation seeks an experienced Instructor to deliver Driver's Education and Workplace Communications in a classroom setting. You will use standard guides to teach proper driving practices and ensure a structured, engaging learning environment for students.

The role requires collaboration with Career Technical Education instructors to align curriculum, maintain records, and support student success in CSS and related programs.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of motor vehicle safety and operation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Computer literacy with email, internet and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • High level of communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and train students effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Uses standard driver education materials and reference guides to support lessons.
  • Maintains student records including attendance, test scores and evaluations.
  • Participates in curriculum development with CTE instructors.

Job description

Primary Position Objectives

Prescribes individual and/or group lessons designed to assist students in learning drivers' education. Provides instruction to students enrolled in Drivers Education, Workplace Communications, Career Success Standards (CSS). Conducts and manages driver's education classes.

Brief Description of Duties
  • Performs as an instructor in a regular classroom setting, presenting instruction in the area of Drivers Education, Workplace Communications
  • Uses the WV Driver Handbook, WV State Parent -Teen Training Guide and Rules of the Road DVD.
  • Uses the state's interactive Department of Motor Vehicles
  • Assists students with suspended licenses to resolve the
  • Endeavors to promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting, ensuring maximum student motivation.
  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom in order to ensure maximum learning.
  • Establishes a high degree of student/instructor
  • Works directly with the Career Technical Education (CTE) instructors in coordinating curriculum development.
  • Utilizes all possible curricular resource available at the
  • Makes adequate preparation for
  • Maintains students' personal folders, recording personal data, including test scores, evaluations, attendance, incident reports, achievement awards, and any other pertinent information concerning Records and forwards daily attendance to Student Records and Attendance/Scheduling Clerk.
  • Participates in ESP's (evaluation of student performance); prepares ESPs timely and accurately; sets SMART goals.
  • Evaluates student employee's performance in academics and Provides regular feedback to student employees regarding appropriate CSS.
  • Works toward meeting performance management goals to include specific driver licenses attained.
  • Follows CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system
  • Assists with quarterly graduation
  • Adheres to required property control policies and
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety
  • Complies with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures

Experience

Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.

Education

Bachelor's degree in education from a four‑year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Certified to teach in state of where the center is located (may be waived by Regional Office but must pursue certification). Valid State Driver's License.
