Job summary

C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. is seeking a yard/trucking associate to move trailers, secure loads, and manage BOL paperwork at our Minnesota location. CDL is required, and you will operate pallet jacks and forklifts to handle freight on loading docks.

You will start and monitor reefer units, verify shipments, and maintain logs. The role requires flexibility across shifts, including weekends, with attention to safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Must be able to work days, evenings, nights and weekends as per company needs.
• Lift freight up to 50 lbs frequently and over 70 lbs occasionally.
• Sort, handle, load and unload freight using pallet jack, forklift and by hand.
• Walk/stand on loading dock; operations on non-climate-controlled surfaces.

Responsibilities

Primary Schedule

Primary schedule Sun-Thur 7:00am-3:00pm, but may vary if covering vacations (including working 2nd or 3rd shift).

Duties and Responsibilities

• Working in the yard moving trailers to/from docks, securing loads.
• Managing BOL paperwork.
• Experience moving 53 foot trailers to and from loading docks utilizing a yard truck CDL required.
• Keep a log of all trailers moved to/from the bakery or storage locations.
• Seal trailers.
• Start and set reefer units.
• Check Trucks/Drivers in and out.
• Check and Organize shipping/receiving documents.
• Yard checks.
• Inventory trailers.
• Occasionally responsible for physical moving of freight into and out of trailers in a timely manner, by handling the freight manually, or using a forklift or hand truck.
• Occasionally efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift and by hand.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
• Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies.
• Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.

Skills and Abilities

• Candidates must be at least 21 years of age; must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
• Ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends as per company needs.
• This job requires the ability to: lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally).
• Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift and by hand.
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
• Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary.
• Handle BOLs for transfers being made from the bakery to offsite freezer.
