Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in Lancaster, OH is seeking a CDL Shuttle Driver to operate a semi-tractor trailer for loading and delivering to the plant and warehouse. This full-time role requires safe driving, adherence to safety and quality procedures, and daily communication with warehouse staff.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a valid CDL with Hazmat endorsement, and verifiable tractor-trailer experience within the last four years.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the shuttle vehicle on each trip and follow all applicable laws and company policy.
  • Maintain records for trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
  • Interact with warehouse staff and comply with safety requirements.
  • Communicate with operations and warehouse personnel in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading/unloading positions with care and use wheel chocks as needed.
  • Follow airline/electrical hookup and backing procedures.
  • Follow all company policies and quality procedures.
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment daily.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip. Must follow all applicable laws and company policy.
  • Responsible for accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of vehicles.
  • Must function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse supervisors and comply with warehouse safety requirements.
  • Must communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations, and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must maneuver trucks into loading and unloading position, following signal from loading crew as needed. Also place safety wheel chocks in front of wheel/tire to prevent the trailer from rolling. If pup trailer movement is involved; extra care must be taken on the placement of the trailer jack stand (when at dock, jack stand must be on the ground and in a locked position). If there is not a jack stand installed on the trailer the customer must be notified.
  • Proper use of Airline/Electrical hookup/and Backing procedure is a must.
  • Follow all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard

OTHER DUTIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have tractor trailer experience.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • Satisfactory completion of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for tractor trailer operation.

Other

  • Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during the warmer and colder months can range from mild to moderate.
