Apple Valley Waste is hiring a Driver - Residential Trash to lead from the front and ensure top service on residential routes. You will operate a rear-load garbage truck, perform routine pre/post-trip checks, and safely manage manual lifting up to 70 lbs while supporting a fast-growing team.

Qualifications

• Pre/post-trip inspections of the truck and components are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate Garbage Truck safely on assigned routes in residential areas and other sites.
• Perform manual labor including lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Navigate routes using route sheets and service each customer as assigned by dispatcher.
• Work full-time, year-round with typical Monday–Friday hours (occasional Saturdays).
• Operate hydraulic controls to collect and dump waste.
• Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.

Job Description

The Driver - Residential Trash is responsible for supporting key operations within the waste management and recycling industry. This role contributes to the organization's success through strong execution, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a commitment to safety, service quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Garbage Truck Safely: Drive a rear load garbage truck on specified routes to collect solid waste in residential neighborhoods, construction sites, and other assigned areas.


• Manual Labor: This role requires lifting and climbing in and out of the truck, and the ability to lift objects up to 70 lbs.


• Route Navigation: Read route sheets and service each customer on the route as assigned by the dispatcher.


• Work Schedule: Full-time, year-round position with typical work hours of Monday to Friday (occasionally Saturday as needed). Drivers are typically home every evening.


• Hydraulic Operation: Operate lever hand controls for hydraulic machinery to collect and dump waste.


• Pre/Post Trip Inspections: Conduct basic inspections of truck components to ensure the vehicle is safe and ready for the route.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid CDL License: Must have a Class A or B CDL with a current, valid DOT medical certificate.


• Physical Ability: Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 70 lbs to shoulder height and climb in and out of the truck throughout the shift.


• Basic Truck Knowledge: Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections on the truck and its components.
