This is a driving-first position. The person in this role should expect to spend approximately 20–25 hours each week making deliveries in a company van. The remainder of the schedule will be spent supporting coffee production, packaging, fulfillment, inventory, and general upkeep at the roastery.

You’ll be one of the regular faces our wholesale partners see, so reliability and professionalism matter. Deliveries need to arrive accurately, safely, and on schedule.

Prior coffee or production experience is helpful, but it isn’t required. We’re more interested in finding someone who is dependable, comfortable spending long periods on the road, willing to help wherever needed, and interested in learning more about coffee.

POSITION DETAILS

Location: Orange, New Jersey

Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with some early mornings and occasional weekend work

Hours: 30–40 hours per week, including approximately 20–25 hours of driving

Compensation: $18–$20 per hour, depending on experience

  • Communicate clearly with the production team about delays, changes, or delivery issues
  • Represent Paper Plane warmly and professionally when interacting with customers and wholesale partners
  • Keep the delivery van clean, organized, and ready for the road
  • Monitor the van for fuel, cleanliness, or maintenance needs and report any concerns promptly
  • Safely navigate traffic, parking, loading areas, and frequent stops throughout the delivery day
PRODUCTION SUPPORT

  • Pick and prepare wholesale, café, and online orders
  • Receive and organize green coffee, packaging, and incoming supplies
  • Assist with inventory counts and keep production materials properly stocked
  • Learn and use our labeling, tagging, inventory, and production-tracking systems

  • Support the roasting and production team wherever needed
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Confidence driving and parking a company van
  • Comfort spending 20–25 hours per week on the road
  • The ability to drive for extended periods and make frequent stops
  • Dependability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail
  • A friendly and professional approach when making deliveries
  • The ability to manage a route independently and communicate when issues arise
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a small production team
  • The ability and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and equipment
  • An interest in specialty coffee, roasting, and production
  • Flexibility for early mornings and occasional weekend work
  • Previous delivery, route-driving, warehouse, fulfillment, or production experience is helpful, but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an active and physical position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Sit and drive for extended periods
  • Enter and exit the delivery van frequently throughout the day
  • Load and unload orders safely
  • Stand and move around the production facility for extended periods
  • Perform repetitive tasks such as weighing, filling, sealing, labeling, and packing
  • Regularly lift and carry boxes and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

THE PRODUCTION SIDE

When you aren’t on the road, you’ll work alongside our roasting and production team and learn how specialty coffee moves through a working roastery, from green coffee arriving at our facility to roasting, packaging, and fulfillment.
