Job summary

J H Fischer & Son Inc, a Newark, NJ based family-rooted company, is seeking an Industrial Delivery Driver to bridge warehouse operations and customers. You will safely transport industrial materials using a company van or rack truck, ensure timely deliveries, and provide excellent customer service on every route.

The role requires safe driving, manual handling, and adherence to DOT regulations, with opportunities to grow within our logistics team and contribute to a dependable delivery service

Qualifications

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Safely operate van or rack truck to deliver industrial goods across designated routes, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards


• Load and unload materials using manual handling techniques, pallet jacks, or material handling equipment while following safe lifting practices


• Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with all regulations before each shift


• Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers to confirm delivery times, resolve issues, and provide excellent customer service


• Assist with warehouse operations when needed, including inventory management, moving stock within the facility, and supporting warehouse team members


• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior to promote safety and professionalism during deliveries

Requirements

• Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or in a similar role involving commercial driving and route management


• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record


• Experience operating commercial vans and rack truck


• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and weight handling in the workplace to ensure safety at all times


• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely; familiarity with load & unload procedures using pallet jacks or material handling equipment


• Warehouse experience including warehouse operations, moving stock, and manual handling skills is a plus


• Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude during interactions with clients


• Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols related to heavy lifting, moving materials, and operating heavy machinery when applicable
