Job summary

Valley Behavioral Health is seeking a part-time Driver for the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning to ensure safe and efficient transport of clients to and from Valley locations.

You will operate, maintain, and keep company vehicles clean while supporting staff and managing behavior on the vehicle. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum age of 21 with a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• No prior experience required (per preferred qualifications).

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation of vehicles and transportation of clients.
• Maintain routes, stops, and client counts.
• Coordinate with staff and assist with behavior management on the vehicle.
• Keep vehicle clean inside and out.
• Follow emergency procedures and complete transportation records.

At the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning Drivers play an important role in helping children with autism feel safe, supported, and cared for during transportation to and from the program. This role is more than driving — it’s about creating a calm, positive environment, building trust with clients, and helping children transition successfully between home and school each day. Drivers work closely with staff to support safety, consistency, and positive experiences for every child. Pay:

Range starts at $16.50/hour (pay is calculated based on years of related experience)

Schedule:

• Part Time | 25 hours/week
• Bus Schedule | Mon-Thurs 7:00am-9:30am & 2:00pm-4:30pm | Friday 7:00am-9:30am & 11:00pm-1:30pm*

*Additional Opportunity: available part time openings as an Autism Aide/Driver for a total of 29hrs/week if interested

Job Summary & Deliverables

The Driver ensures the safe and efficient transport of clients to and from Valley locations. The Driver is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of company vehicles.

Essential Functions

• Complies with all safety policies and procedures while operating vehicle
• Transports clients to and from Valley locations
• Maintains knowledge of the routes, locations of stops, and the clients who board or exit at each stop
• Coordinates with and supports employees who accompany clients and assists with behavior management on the vehicle
• Maintains interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness
• Follows emergency procedures and reports incidents as requiredMaintains required transportation records
• Vans must be kept at a Valley property when not in use. Drivers may be able to keep the vehicle at the closest location to their home in between working hours.

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

• No previous experience required (see Preferred Qualifications)

Licenses/Certifications

• This position requires driving - minimum age of 21 and a current driver’s license
• For DOT vehicles - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement
• For DOT vehicles - Department of Transportation Health Certificate
