Job Summary

The Vacuum Truck Operator must be able to work in compliance with MER’s four core service lines: Emergency Response, Industrial and Marine Services, Facility Decontamination, and Site Remediation. Drivers must adhere to corporate policies, health and safety protocols, and all applicable regulations.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Execute field work in remediation and industrial maintenance projects under supervision.
  2. Drive approximately 30% of the time and work onsite as part of a team. May perform duties of a Field Technician if needed.
  3. Complete all required paperwork accurately, including timesheets, reports, logs, and safety forms.
  4. Understand and enforce project scope-of-work and maintain compliance with documents and policies.
  5. Work safely at all times in the field.
  6. Perform tasks in confined or varying spaces, including squatting and crawling.
  7. Follow directions, understand safety labels, and read safety plans.
  8. Safely operate and perform safety checks on all licensed vehicles.
  9. Operate vehicles such as Vacuum Truck, Trailer, Turbo-Vac, Roll-Off, and Hydro Vac.
  10. Travel out of town for projects lasting two weeks or more.
  11. Comply with safety standards and adapt to environmental conditions.
  12. Work outdoors year-round in various weather and environments, including extreme conditions.
  13. Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, etc.
  14. Maintain a clean-shaven appearance for respirator sealing.
Qualifications
  1. Ability to operate a manual transmission.
  2. High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years of vacuum truck experience.
  3. Preferred experience in emergency response, manual labor, or industrial cleaning.
  4. Valid Class “B” or “A” CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  5. TWIC card preferred.
  6. OSHA 40-HR HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry certifications are desirable.
  7. Pass pre-employment background and drug screening, including MVR checks.
