Job Title: Driver – Material Handler

Role Summary

Our client seeks a Driver - Material Handler to join their rapidly growing team. The main objective of the Driver – Material Handler is to pick up and deliver products and materials using the company’s vehicles. The Driver – Material Handler will also be involved with warehouse duties including receiving, storage, packaging, shipping, and distribution of material within the warehouse. The Driver – Material Handler will report to the Warehouse Supervisor or the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Pick up and deliver products using company vehicles in the local branch area.
  2. Pull the correct quantity and product from designated inventory locations based on the picking/transfer ticket.
  3. Build cartons and pack products for outbound shipments/delivery ensuring that the product is not damaged and is packaged securely for shipment.
  4. Complete deliveries by driving trucks to and from customers or vendors as assigned.
  5. Unload materials from trucks and verify receipt of all delivered products/materials per packing slip or delivery ticket.
  6. Verify that products received are as listed on vendor’s packing list and record quantities on PO Stock Ticket.
  7. Stock and store products in designated inventory locations as per established protocols and record any new inventory locations on the PO Stock Ticket.
  8. Perform inventory control audits per established protocols to ensure the accuracy of inventory.
  9. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and ladders.
  10. Complete daily forklift inspection as necessary and advise the branch manager of any defects or issues with warehouse equipment.
  11. Ensure that company trucks are kept clean and that preventive maintenance checks are conducted per protocol. Advise Branch Manager or Warehouse Supervisor when there are operating issues or concerns with company vehicles.
  12. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallets, and workstations tidy and organized.
  13. Always follow safety precautions and protocols.
  14. Transport products to local customers using company trucks and trailers.
Skills & Qualifications
  1. High School degree or equivalent is preferred.
  2. Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  3. Requires the ability to work independently.
  4. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  5. Knowledge of good warehousing practices.
  6. Ability to drive a forklift and successfully obtain forklift certification.
  7. Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  8. Strong organizational skills.
  9. Ability to stand on feet for extended periods.
  10. Basic computer skills are preferred for those with receiving and shipping responsibilities.
  11. If driving responsibilities – must have and be able to maintain a clean driving record and at least 3 years of driving experience.
