Qualifications

• Background clearance process including fingerprint-based and name-based checks.
• No disqualifying offenses listed in CFR 49 sections 1572.103(a)/(b).
• No interim disqualifying offenses in CFR 49 sections 1572.103(a)/(b) in the past 7 years.
• No releases from incarceration in the past 5 years.
• Must possess a valid driver's license or be able to obtain one prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Explain state laws and licensing requirements to applicants.
• Collect fees and verify documents; access and approve testing procedures.
• Maintain cash handling records and reconcile daily revenue; deposit funds.
• Administer vision screenings, written tests, and road skills tests.
• Advise applicants on results and steps for retesting; update LIST with accurate data.
• Inspect vehicle safety (lights, brakes, etc.) to ensure roadworthiness.
