Job summary

Scholastic Book Fairs in Birmingham, AL is seeking a full-time Driver Lead with CDL A to supervise drivers, coordinate dispatch, and ensure on-time deliveries. Starting pay is $29/hour, with weekends home and occasional overnight trips with hotel and a $50 meal allowance.

Responsibilities include monitoring performance, training drivers, reviewing trip sheets and DOT logs, and enforcing safety standards per DOT/OSHA rules.

Qualifications

• Verifiable CDL A driving experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable CDL A tractor-trailer driving and delivery experience.
• Must pass drug screen, MV record review, background check, and a DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Monitor driver performance to maintain productivity and budget.
• Coordinate dispatch with WS/BM to meet schedules.
• Plan peak needs and liaise with rental and temp driver companies.
• Train CDL drivers in safety and presentation.
• Ensure PMs/repairs and DOT logs are up to date.
• Lead monthly driver safety meetings.
