Job summary

Quantix SCS in Charleston, SC is seeking a Driver, Jockey to help maintain yard and dock operations. You will operate switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to move goods between docks and yard.

You will schedule moves to maximize efficiency, refuel on-site, document equipment condition, and ensure loads are secured in compliance with safety rules. Must have a valid driver's license and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Availability to work 12-hour variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Operate switching equipment to maintain safe dock operations by switching trailers and equipment.
• Verify container and trailer numbers while moving them in the yard.
• Perform daily yard checks and inspect truck equipment (tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water).
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas.
• Refuel equipment on-site and monitor fuel levels.
• Secure loads properly in compliance with guidelines.
• Communicate issues to management promptly.
• Follow safety procedures and workplace policies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Driver, Jockey play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our yard and dock activities. As a Driver, Jockey you will operate switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment between designated locations. You will make scheduling decisions to ensure efficient loading and unloading operations while adhering to safety standards. Additional responsibilities include refueling vehicles on-site and documenting the location and condition of equipment.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

• Operate switching equipment to maintain safe and efficient dock operations by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
• Verify container and trailer numbers while moving them in the yard.
• Perform daily yard checks and inspect truck equipment, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notify supervision of anticipated or current repair needs.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas.
• Refuel equipment on-site and monitor fuel levels appropriately.
• Secure loads properly, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Communicate issues or concerns to management promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures and workplace policies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, adhering to required policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
